As in, “I can’t believe I’m finally doing this!”
I have thought about my own weird little world and made up stories about it for years (under a different name, back then) but I never shared it with anyone outside my family – until my call center computer broke down and left me with an unpaid(!) month off from work. Did I mention the “unpaid” part?!
This was the second time this had happened within a span of three months. (The first time, I was only out of work for two weeks – insert eye-roll here.) As I watched my checking account shrink into a tiny, cowering, shadow of its former self before the eldritch horror of debt arising from the murky depths of COVID-19, I found myself inspired by such thoughts as “If not now, when?”
So I revisited the cast of characters that live in my mind, gathered together years’ worth of scribbled notes, and wrote Feeling Sheepish in one month.
Sure, it probably reads like it, but what the hell, I’m proud of it!
And now I’m releasing it into the wild, in the hope that it will be found by people who will love Dr. Faust Undercroft, Detective DeMoral, Dahlia Nightshade, and all the others as much as I do.
Who knows? I might even write another one!
